Concert Preview

Hear the Titanic, a concert featuring original and period-inspired music from Michael Merino’s play, Hemispheric Dysfunctionalism and the Cortical Titanic, was performed on Saturday, August 18 at the Art Space Lofts at 3305 8th Street NE, Washington, DC.

Written and arranged by the playwright, the compositions are episodic musical vignettes that complement the upcoming play with elegiac pulses, hypnotic arpeggios, and somber, baroque phrasing. Jason McCool served as the musical director with Genna Davidson and Simone Shuffert on violin, Benjamin Gates on cello, and Tom Skvarka on flute. Julia Scherer Hoock and Katharina Acosta performed as the Lorelei, singing the alto and soprano parts.

As part of the evening’s entertainment, members of the cast read scenes from the play. The ensemble cast included Ian LeValley*, Misty Demory*, Scott Sedar*, Keith Waters, Bethany Michel, Patrick Joy, and Darius T. Epps.

Hemispheric Dysfunctionalism and the Cortical Titanic is scheduled to open in October 5, 2012 and will be directed by Kerri Rambow and Michael Merino. For tickets, click here.
